Our AMERICAn BBQ Road trip stops in Cali in september

At each road trip stop month we dig-in to a new region and pair seasonal produce to create a menu that reflects BBQ favorites and iconic dishes that have been passed down through the generations.

Life is good in the Golden State…Our regional California cuisine is driven by seasonal local ingredients picked at the peak of freshness and simple time honored cooking techniques that allow for unspoiled clean flavors to shine through.  Chef is excited about his new Santa Maria Style Tri-Tip and his California style smoked and BBQ'd Pork Spare Ribs with Raspberry Sauce.  The cocktail menu is fun too, complete with a Cable Car and a Santa Cruz Sunset.  The weather's great - come see us.

Chicago - last stop on our Road Trip until next year!

Time flies when your having fun out on the road enjoying BBQ. Next Month we hit the Mid West and with the comfort food from the windy city. Start with a speakeasy classic cocktail like a Gin Rickey, or French 75. For appetizers, we’ve got a Classic Wedge Salad topped with Apple Wood Smoked Bacon or Pulled Pork Sliders. For entrees try a Polish Sausage alongside and our famous Midwestern Baby Back Ribs or a Fried Shrimp and House Made Fries plus more ideas in development...

Palo Alto Human Society

MacArthur Park will donate 10% of our proceeds to the Palo Alto Human Society on October 4th. Come in and enjoy our new Chicago menu and make a difference for a great cause.

Welcome to MacArthur Park

MacArthur Park Restaurant, named after a Jimmy Webb song, has been a neighborhood favorite in Palo Alto since it first opened in 1981. Today’s MacArthur Park has been reclaimed by its original owner and its original chef with a revitalized menu and a recent renovation of this historical landmark Julia Morgan building.

Historical landmarks are permanent sign posts to a culture’s community. This landmark has served the community in many incarnations: as a 1918 Hostess House for visiting families of World War I servicemen, as a community center, a veterans hall and now, once again, as the new MacArthur Park.

Home is a place you love, and MacArthur Park is pleased to welcome the community back home with new dishes, old favorites and the warmest of hospitality.

About Us

Faz Pouroshi, the original opening chef of MacArthur Park Palo Alto in 1981, put his award-winning ribs on the map cooking his heart out behind the line at the restaurant.

In March of 2008 he approached Chuck Frank, one of the owners of the original restaurant to purchase the space. Frank was already on top of it and together they formed a partnership to renew, revitalize and reboot the historical landmark space.

Historian and author Barbara Wilcox's book explores history of the MacArthur Park Restaurant building.  The subject and title of Barbara’s book is “World War I Army Training by San Francisco Bay: The Story of Camp Fremont”.

“As the most distinguished artifact of that history, Julia Morgan’s landmark building is a suitable place to honor the engineers, nurses, technicians, drivers and many others who worked not only to win a war but to bring modernity to America”, says Barbara.
